Premiered in 1735 in the most prestigious theater in Venice, Griselda is the 'apotheosis' opera. With this mature work, in a libretto revised by Goldoni, Vivaldi is reconciled with the singer Anna Girò, his most famous pupil, and conquer the Venetian elite. In this context, the story of Queen Griselda, despised by her subjects because of her modest origins but earning their love and loyalty through courage and endurance, finds a very special resonance.

Créé en 1735 au sein du plus prestigieux théâtre de Venise, Griselda est l’opéra des apothéoses. Avec cette œuvre de maturité, sur un livret révisé par Goldoni, Vivaldi se réconcilie avec la chanteuse Anna Girò, sa plus célèbre élève, et tous deux conquièrent l’élite vénitienne. Dans ce contexte, l’histoire de la reine Griselda, méprisée par ses sujets en raison de ses origines modestes mais gagnant leur amour et leur fidélité à force de courage et d’endurance, trouve une résonance toute particulière.
